Safeguarding statement

Medvancer supports students aged 16 and above, some of whom are under 18. We take the safety and wellbeing of every young person we work with seriously. This statement sets out the commitments we make and what to do if you have a concern.

Our commitments

• All mentors delivering one-to-one sessions hold an Enhanced DBS check. Our founder and lead mentor, Fortunate, is Enhanced DBS checked, and any future mentor will be required to hold the same before working with students.
• All sessions are delivered online through a professional video-call platform. Sessions are never held via personal social media accounts or unmonitored channels.
• Mentors will only contact students through Medvancer's official email and booking system.
• We treat every young person with respect and dignity, regardless of background, race, religion, disability, gender or sexual orientation.

Parental awareness & consent for under-18s

If you are under 18, we ask that a parent or guardian is aware you have signed up and can provide a contact email address. For one-to-one sessions with students under 18, we may ask a parent or guardian to confirm consent before the first session goes ahead.

Conduct during sessions

• Sessions cover topics relevant to medical school applications only.
• Mentors will keep boundaries clear and professional at all times.
• Sessions may be recorded only with prior written consent from both mentor and student (and parent/guardian for under-18s).
• If a session ever feels uncomfortable, you can end it at any time and contact us using the details below.

Raising a concern

If you have a safeguarding concern — about yourself, another student, or a mentor — please contact us as soon as possible:

• If a young person is in immediate danger, call 999.
• You can also contact the NSPCC helpline on 0808 800 5000 or Childline on 0800 1111.

We will take every concern seriously, investigate promptly, and where appropriate report to the relevant statutory authorities.
